I am developing a site to allow different types of health care professionals in one company to communicate with each other.
Much of the information is for everyone, but I know some are going to want a "widget specialist" only forum that "knee techs" won't see or post to.
Is it possible to create private forums (or is it fora)?

You can create forums that only members or a certain group can see. It all ties in with Geeklog's permission system.
There are actually a few forums on this site that you can not see

Dirk,
Thanks for the quick reply. Right now, I am on heavy does of Valium for a bad inner ear/balance problem. If I were completely sober, I might figure out on my own how to utilize the permission system to create the private forums.
Would ou please help me out with some details about how to do it?
Thanks,
Brent

It is pretty simple, actually.
- create a new group ("Groups" from the Admin block) - no need to select any of the options there, just create a group and give it a name
- assign the users to that group (you have to edit each user and check the checkbox for the new group)
- create the forum, and for "Group Access" select your new group
That's it.
bye, Dirk

Yep, if I weren't high on Valium and my world wasn't spinning on 3 axes, I might have figured that out.
Appreciate your help
