You have a whitespace problem, i.e. blanks or empty lines at the end of your config.php.
Hint: Always try searching for the error message first - this has been discussed dozens of times before ...

No, all the paths have to be absolute paths.

Getting rid of the whitespace at the end of the config files fixed it. That should be in the faq if it is so common.

i'm gettng that same error msg - error selecting database msg..
i'm new to the whole sql thing.
website: www.n10ct.com/admin/install/install.php
the database was created before i ran the install script but for some reason it won't recognize it.
did anyone figure it out? i read the past posts but i couldn't see an actual solution posted..
