Hello, I just installed filemgmt plugin and the installation process seemed to work fine.
Now I have some problems:
- if i setup a new file and then try to download it (it's a Apple Soundtrack document) it opens as text in the browser window OR, if I right click it and choose to download the file, it is saved as a "visit.php" file.
- if the document is a .jpg file, the browser doesn't download it but it opens it in the window
Do you know about some fix?

Someone else was having this issue a couple weeks ago and suggestions were posted in the forum. Do a search on visit.php and see if that helps.
I assume, you have no issues downloading from this site, files in the Downloads area. Thats the same plugin and rules out any browser issues.

You need to set the correct mime types on the server.

I had time to test now, and downloaded the beta for v 1.3, uninstalled the old and started over again.
Installation as always for Blaines plugins is so that my mom could have done it, and everything now works as they should.
Dont know what went wrong last time, but dl a file now names the file with its original name, not visit.php

Happy to hear that. So I tried the 1.3beta...installed online on www.tampano.com, uploaded a jpg to try the thing...BUT...it always saves the file with "visit.php.jpg" name.
Any idea?

Tell us more about your environment as it looks to be a local setup issue.
- Are the problems with both uploading and downloading
- Are you using a hosting service
- What OS and PHP version, IIS or Apache
- Is PHP safe mode on / off

1. I see no problems in uploading, but for some kinds of files (see .jpg) it saves with this "visit.php" thing.
2. Yes, it's www.f2s.com, UK based, I'm in Italy
3. Don't know about OS. Php is 4.2.2. Don't know which Apache
4. It seems safe mode is ON. More details at this address:
Thanks for helping me

Thanks to Blaine for cheking directly onto my website.
We discovered everything's well...except that the "visit.php" is a result of right-click save with most Mac browsers (IE, Safari, Netscape, Mozilla). Opera for Mac works well also right-clicking onto the file and choosing "save as".
I didn't try to right-click the downloads on geeklog.net website. Blaine suggested and we discovered is a common issue...maybe client Os related.
I'm not an expert to know the reason but...maybe the solution would be to compress every file...because a jpg will open in the browser window...and a document not associated with an application will open as simple text in the browser window.

I'm having the same problems, and it does appear to be Mac Client related (which is tough because I run a Mac site)
There must be a way to fix this problem. Both IE 5.2 for Mac and Safari treat the download the same way.
Some files (like AIF files) download and then play, but most files show up on my desktop as visit.php.
Has anyone found a good fix for this? Will adjusting the MIME types on my server help?
Thanks
Mike
