I'm a newbiephyte but have geeklog installed and need plugins....gallery and other stuff. Managed to get forums and chatterlog installed.
Where do you suggest I start? Is Imagemagik or the other image manipulation software necessary to install gallery? Do I need gallery in order to post pictures in articles?
Will Imagemagik be integrated in future versions of GL and will posting pictures in articles be easier than it is now?
Do I need to install imagemagik first to install gallery?

Hi and welcome
It may confuse you, but gallery ain't a Geeklog plugin, it's a standalone program wich is easy to integrate with Geeklog. So most of the support questions may be better adressed to the
Gallery Team[*1] . Right now we are between two evolution steps. The latest Gallery (1.4.2) needs theGeeklog
integration[*2] .to let Geeklog be wrapped around, the next Gallery release (1.4.3) wich is in developement, has that build in.
You can read about the requirements to install Gallery
here[*3] ..
I'm not a dev, but I doubt that Imagemagick will be included in later Geeklog releases and I don't think that posting Images is so complicated
Maybe if someone writes a rich text editor wich is compatible with more than one browser, (and don't produces such a "code-overhead") editing and integration of images will be easier

Thanks.
Still don't think the question was actually answered but does imagemagik or other image manipulation script need to be installed first before posting pictures in an article?
I get an error message when I try to post a picture in an article.

He, that wasn't your question
You asked if you need imagemagick before you install Gallery. I think that question is somewhat answered.
You don't need IM to upload pictures to Geeklog. It just gives you more comfort (not in the way you upload the pics but e.g. it automagicly rezises pics etc)
Maybe it would help us, when you post the error msg. here.
