In the config.php file I have both options set to one.
I made a new topic with the ID of Linux_ and the position number is 4
I then made another topic with the ID of Linux_install, position of 5.
But there is no menu cascade effect. Instead both topics show as seperate entities. I can create the desired listing with the menu plugin itself but not with the topic block. So the topic block is not controlled by the menu plugin.??
I have read and reread the readme file and I am still stumped.

To make sub-topics work requires several things.
1) You have to lay out your subtopics correctly -- looks like you have done this.
2) The subtopics only show in menus own block
3) You have to have made the changes to your main index.php. (note: I have not done this since 1.3.8 -- someone with the time should take over this plugin).

"2) The subtopics only show in menus own block"
Okay, do you mean that subtopics can only be seen in the menu plugin block?? That I cannot make subtopics with the default Topic block that is installed with Geeklog??
"You have to have made the changes to your main index.php"
I copied and renamed the file "new-index.php" so that it replaced the standard index.php for geeklog. I hope that's what I was supposed to do..

That is correct. You should disable the default GL block and enable the menu plugin block. Though all of your sections are taken from the topics you've created, you need to disable the default GL sections block.

Yup.
I do wish I could take over the plugin. It is very nice. I'm just not strong enough in PHP to do it. I am making some small mods to it however. For example, when you go to submit articles, you may not wish users to see all of the main topics (Main_) in the pulldown list, but only the subtopics (Main_sub1).
Also, there is a bug that caused posted articles to appear in both the main topic AND the subtopic. I'm trying to correct this. There are a few more features I am trying to add. Then, if no one has beaten me to the punch, I'd like to release it. But it is slow going because I'm having to learn how the code works from scratch. Tom is a genius. I'm average at best

Thank you so much for your answers..
I have another query... I notice when I create a story, only the topics from the default topic block are there for me to assign the story under. Did I do something wrong in my setup or is this just the way it is?
