Is there any way to have links that I post in my Links block or any from my RSS feeds to open in a new window?

I did it and it works, but only if you are on the links page.
I'm trying to do the same thing to the links that are in my blocks...the links block as well as my RSS blocks.

Did you read the entire thread? It also tells how to do it for the What's New block.
All you have to do is find wherever the links are being created in HTML, and add target="_blank" to them.

Yeah, I read the whole link. Looked where you said don't know which of the 41 hrefs to add target-"_blank" to.

The good news: you don't have to add a tag to every link in your link page.
Go to : layout/yourtheme/links/linkdetails.thtml
look for: {link_url}
add target"_blank" after it and before the >
All links in your link page will open up in a new window.
Hope it helps,

You know these "keep people on your site with content, not using lame tricks" and "it's the users decision to open a new window" ideas?

just to please Dirk, but I guess he just ignores the topic meanwhile

My content caters to a wide age range. I have a lot of us 40 somethings and older that don't have the first clue how to "open in a new window" on their own and get lost if they can't easily click back to my site. Those that express on opinion, see the open in a new window automation as "value added."

He, don't tell me >40 can't open new windows on their own
My point is, using that is nearly as bad style as pop up windows, but I know that people don't bother that. *sigh*

A pop-up is a pain in the ...
When I click on a link and it opens up in a window, where I can click as deep as I like, then close it with one click to go back to look at more links ... that is a convenience.

so anyway, can someone help me with what code I should look for in my lib-common.php doc that needs to be modified with target="_blank". As I posted earlier I found 41 hrefs and don't know which one to modify.
I was able to make the change to my "web resources" page as per Turias post but would like to have the links in any or all of my blocks to open in a new window instead of redirct my users elsewhere.
I appreciate the help, I don't do this very much and don't want to wreck my site.
