Geeklog doesn't appear to provide a link element for the backend rss file in it's header.
Is this something I can turn on/off in the config? (I can't find it if it is)
Where would be the best place to 'hack it in' if not?
Cheers

Check out the header of the very site you're reading at the moment
And the best place to put it would be header.thtml, of course.

so you're saying hard-code it into the template html, rather than have geeklog dynamicaly insert it based on your RSS config settings?
Perhaps something to go into the next release ;-)

Well, if you want to make it really complicated, you could write a plugin that uses the API function to add the extra line to the header. However, that sounds like overkill to me ...
On the other hand, something like this would probably make sense with the extended RSS functionality in 1.3.9.
For now, you could use the variable {rss_url} so that you don't have to hard-code the URL.

{rss_url} makes it workable for me.
I just think it should be a peice of core functionality that geeklog inserts that if you enable the backend file anyway ;-)
Does 1.3.9 support ATOM?
How far off is 1.3.9?
Might get latest from CVS and play on my test server...
Does 1.3.9 support ATOM?
1.3.9 has extensible feeds, i.e. you can write a class, drop it in the /path/to/geeklog/system/classes directory and then you can create feeds in any format you've implemented. I wrote an Atom class based on the 0.2 specification a while ago (it has now been outdated by the 0.3 specification and I haven't had the time to update it yet).
Reading of feeds is still restricted to RSS, though. Anyone interested in helping out should have a look at
this[*1] .

I wish I knew ... See
here[*2] and
here[*3] for recent status updates.

With all the changes, it could certainly profit from some testing ...

OK, I uploaded the atom class along with the rss2feed class, and am still not able to display an atom feed from my discussion group. The feed is here:
http://groups-beta.google.com/group/Minds-Eye/feed/msgs.xml?num=15&hl=en
I'm wondering if there is something specific to Google's feed that is making it not work? Or, are there files I am missing, or changes I need to make to config, common-lib, etc?

Geeklog currently can not read Atom feeds. The Atom class you installed is for writing Atom feeds.
Reading Atom feeds will be possible with the next release and is already implemented in CVS.
