Is there a way to have file management direct the user to a file? So instead of uploading the file, I just input the url or path to it.

Upload a small file that does an HTML redirect to the actual downloadable file (adjust the size information for the HTML file manually, as to reflect the size of the actual file).
That's an old trick, btw, I'm sure it's documented somewhere ...
bye, Dirk

Thanks I found it somewhere, but when I upload a file,
I get this across the top
Warning: move_uploaded_file(/var/www/data/filemgmt_data/files/worldwide.html): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/shadowru/public_html/geeklog/public_html/admin/plugins/filemgmt/index.php on line 776
Warning: move_uploaded_file(): Unable to move '/var/tmp/phpDOJCx9' to '/var/www/data/filemgmt_data/files/worldwide.html' in /home/shadowru/public_html/geeklog/public_html/admin/plugins/filemgmt/index.php on line 776
And I get this in the body of the page
Shadow Rulers Error
Error Code: 1106
ERROR: Upload Add Error: The new file was not created. Check error.log

You may want to re-check the directory permissions to make sure the web server process owner has access to write to the directories.

I figured that geeklog didn't save the setting. But when I tried to save the real settings, I got a page with this at the top.
Warning: fopen(/home/shadowru/public_html/geeklog/plugins/filemgmt/filemgmt.php): failed to open stream: Permission denied in /home/shadowru/public_html/geeklog/public_html/admin/plugins/filemgmt/index.php on line 1169
Warning: fwrite(): supplied argument is not a valid stream resource in /home/shadowru/public_html/geeklog/public_html/admin/plugins/filemgmt/index.php on line 1194
Warning: fclose(): supplied argument is not a valid stream resource in /home/shadowru/public_html/geeklog/public_html/admin/plugins/filemgmt/index.php on line 1195
After it did that, the page quickly reloaded and it was gone. I have checked my CHMOD settings and it is 777 for that file and I am still unable to get access. What should I do?

I have somehow fixed most of the problem.
My Site
But if you go to the download area and try to download the file, I can't get anything. My computer can not find the domain name. I know it is there and I know the url is correct but I just can not get the file to download. If you don't know what to do, then do you know who I can contact?

You can always contant the author of the plugin - I hear he is a helpfull guy
He just likes a little patience and some more detail. Maybe the URL to the site will help to see the problem.
You may also want to describe what you did to fix your last problem as others may find it helpfull as they review these posts.
It would appear to have been permissions or directory name issue.

Try to chmod the directory, and apply all chmod to subfolders and files .. all 777 ... I done it and it was fine ..

Okay - I read this.. I researched on the internet.. I looked through the forum - and this is the closet I got to solving the same exact problem.. however it is not solved.
WHICH folders for FILE MANGEMENT should I chmd to 777, and should I still keep the other ones 754 (for things to be uploaded??) or should these also be chmded to 777?
Thanks.

.. and yes I read the directions.. and chmded the files to what they said to chmd them too - however I am still having problems uploading. So I appreciate that the assumption is not made that I haven't read the directions.. I have.
