I've been blogging for a few years now. I started with a static HTML page. Then I tried installing slashdot[*1] . That was like launching a space shuttle it was so large scale and complicated. Next I used phpWebsite[*2] . It had a lot of promise and a healthy list of desirable blog features, but the quality and consistency fell far short of the design plans. I happened on geek log and was quite impressed with the polish and surrounding community. Doesn't the domain sourceforge.net[*3] scream "valid project" to you?
So now here I am the proud owner of the latest geeked site jimweller.net[*4] . My first story[*5] on the new sight is a recount of my experience switching from phpWebsite to geeklog. Some developers and prospective switchers might find the read helpful as I offer advice to switchers and offer some design ideas and bugfixes for developers. There's also a perl script that converts from phpWebsite to geeklog. I hope to be actively helping develop this product as I work to finish my new theme 'sleeples'.
