Sharepoint Team Services is the application bundled with MS Frontpage 2002. It provides some 'portal' functionality to sites running on MS-IIS. Now, some of the promised functionality seems like a good idea. The question then comes to mind: what about an
Open Source alternative.
Geeklog Maybe?
A product such as Geeklog has some of the required functionality already. It appears to me that plugins could be developed or refined to give similar or close functionality.

I actually like the sharepoint product line. The beta for sharepoint portal 2 and windows sharepoint services are failry impressive.
Honestly though this is precisely why I chose geeklog. It has many similar features.
