I've recently upgraded from:
Apache 1.3.26 + PHP 4.2.1 + Geeklog 1.3.6
to
Apache 2.0.43 + PHP 4.3.2 and am still using GL1.3.6...
My problem is that when I try to edit a story/user/block or anything else involving passing arguments, I get dumped to the script as if there were no arguments passed.
As in, I click the Edit link on a story, and I'm dropped to story.php with the listing of stories... even though the address bar is stating that I'm currently at for example, story.php?mode=edit&sid=20021115100319263
This obviously poses a significant problem as no activity can be resumed on my site until this is resolved... Has anybody encountered such an issue, or similar? I'd appreciate any help possible.
Thanks,
Bishop

First of all, make sure you have register_globals=on in your php.ini.
Then I'd like to point out that there is no such thing as "PHP 4.3.2". The current version of PHP is 4.2.3. There are release candidates, i.e. beta versions, of PHP 4.3.0 available but those are not official yet. Also, there is no official PHP support for Apache 2 available yet (that is promised for the official release of PHP 4.3.0).
In other words: You are using unsupported software and are therefore on your own ...
I don't want to rule out that there may be issues with Geeklog and Apache 2 and/or PHP 4.3.0, but those will be addressed once PHP 4.3.0 is out.
Until then, the recommended environment for Geeklog is PHP 4.1.2 or later and Apache 1.3.27 (older versions of PHP 4 and Apache 1.3 should work, too, but are known to have security issues) - or IIS.
bye, Dirk

I had the exact same problem. I'm pretty sure this might be the fix. It fixed it for me.

Hello,
seen a couple of speculations about the editing of stories through admin.
Setting register_globals = On fixed this problem for me. I did not have to change my file_uploads setting.
Thanks for the help!
