I am running the latest GL on PHP 4.2.2 on Mac OS X 10.15. After a user logs in, the User Function block is not updated. It still shows the login prompt, but the user shows up on the Who's Online block. Refreshing doesn't help. BUT, if the user goes to a story "Read more..." and then clicks the Home Section, all is well. I tried logging in here on geeklog and it works as expected. Any ideas? Thanks!

This is a very popular problem ... Usually, it's one of the following:
Make sure you have cookies enabled in your browser. Also in some version of IE, you need to lower your security settings before it works.
Make sure you use the exact URL that you specified in $_CONF['site_url'], i.e. if the URL there includes "www.", don't try to login using the URL without "www." (and vice versa).
bye, Dirk

Thank you! It works now!
I knew it wasn't an IE problem since I was using Mozilla...
I checked
the site_url and that was not pointing to the same url that i was logging in
from.
Thanks again!

For me it was working with Internet Explorer but NOT with Mozilla..
I checked config.php and of course, as Dirk said, the URL did NOT include www, so I added www to the url and now I no longer have this problem.
Thanks Dirk!!
