I needed to change some code in the install script to avoid issue with install version number.

I changed

/**
 * plugin version
 * @global string $pi_version
 */
$pi_version      = $_LI_CONF['version'];

 * plugin version
 * @global string $pi_version
 */
$pi_version      = $_CF_CONF['version'];
