Contact 2.0.7 for Geeklog: a safer and more modern contact form

The Contact plugin for Geeklog has been updated to version 2.0.7, with a strong focus on security, email deliverability, anti-spam protection and compatibility with both older and recent Geeklog installations.

This lightweight Geeklog contact form plugin provides a public contact page while keeping configuration and mail delivery integrated with the CMS. Version 2.0.7 supports Geeklog 2.1.1 through 2.2.2 and PHP 5.6 through PHP 8.x.

Improved security and anti-spam protection

Contact 2.0.7 adds several protections to reduce unwanted submissions without making the form unnecessarily complex for legitimate visitors.

The plugin now supports Geeklog CSRF token validation, a honeypot field, a minimum submission delay, the Geeklog mail speed limit and Spam-X content analysis. Administrators can also enable human confirmation or Geeklog reCAPTCHA when available.

A new configurable maximum message length also helps prevent excessively large or abusive submissions.

Better email deliverability

One of the most important improvements concerns email handling.

The plugin now keeps the website's configured email address in the From header and places the visitor's address in Reply-To. This avoids spoofing an external sender address and provides better compatibility with SPF, DKIM and DMARC, while still allowing administrators to simply click Reply in their email client.

This makes Contact better suited to modern mail servers and increasingly strict anti-spam policies.

Privacy and usability improvements

Version 2.0.7 also improves form usability. Entered values are preserved after validation errors, and an optional privacy acknowledgement can link directly to the site's privacy policy.

The public form remains responsive and theme-neutral, making it suitable for a wide range of Geeklog themes without requiring extensive customization.

The plugin also clears Geeklog's compiled template and CSS cache after installation or upgrade when supported, while its versioned stylesheet helps prevent stale browser CSS after updates.
