I have released a second beta of the Fortune plugin. This fixes a typo from beta1 that prevented the fortunes from showing up in a random order. You can get it from here.

This is a minor update....

John Hughes noticed that the gallery integration package was missing an update to the util.php file. There's a change to util.php that is necessary to allow mod_rewrite while inside Geeklog. Gallery turns off mod_rewrite if it is wrapped in anything. This is because Nuke doesn't allow it.

You can download the updated package here. Note, if you are upgrading simply replace util.php in /path/to/gallery.

Thanks John!

Good and free servers w/o ads...

Post Your favorite link here :)

Im starting with this cool one:

http://www.polarhome.com

Suggestion: Most of the free servers do not allow mail(), so its a motive to put alternatives in the code like smtp and so.

THNX YOU.

I have created a new fortune module. To some of you already using some version of a fortune module, this may seem like a duplication of work. However, please read the README to get more insight as to why. You can get the download here or you can see it in action

A flaming post today gave me the idea to create a hate mail section. I felt this was a good idea for two reasons. 1) we realize that despite our best efforts, Geeklog is not for everyone. It is not the silver bullet and there are areas where we can improve. This will provide a place where people can post reasons why they don't like Geeklog so that others making a decision can see the 'cons' that others see. It will also allow us a good place to put rebuttals or admit guilt. 2) Some hate mail we get is completely unconstructive or off-base. In those cases I wanted a place others could go to get a good chuckle.

All this may seem counter-intuititve in any marketing efforts but I feel that by allowing people to expose problems with Geeklog it shows that we understand it isn't perfect and that we do care about the opinions of nay-sayers as much as we do Geeklog advocates.

Here is an external HTML grabber script as modified from the 4CM_Grabber script found at http://4cm.com. This script has been modified to display external webpage content within a GeekLog site. 4cm's download site states that this code is proprietary, but gives no details about usage restriction. It is free, in any case, and since I do not profit from it I'm releasing this code anyway in the hopes that the GeekLog plugin developers here can use it as a basis for a better "external includes" plugin.

In any case, expect NO help from 4cm in regards to this particular script. You're not going to get much help from me, either, since suprise of surprises, I am not a PHP programmer.

See the script in action at Thane Community.

I've been searching for the last *"16Hrs"* hours for how to embed foriegn web pages into geeklog... The external pages plug in just doesn't cut it (its great but not for the job)... How in the world can I go about avoiding iframes completely... Please I need o repeat that (**HOW DO I AVOID IFRAMES!!!**) and yet still be able to embed a **whole** web page into geeklog???

It is so unprofessional and childish like to rant the way I am ranting and just for the record my frustrations have nothing to do with Geeklog itself (its great!) I am just dying between a rock and a hard place here!!! **"16Hrs"** and I am pulling up NOTHING!!!!

Please if you haven't the answer give me IDEAS!!, SUGGESTIONS!!, HYPOTHESIS!!, INPUT OF ANY KIND!!

Every time I get closer to solving it I find myself farther from the truth...

I am sorry for my B******* but I needed a place to vent my anger and frustration with iframes... I hope you understand... I feel a little better now... I'm sorry...
