MindFab.com has released 3 GeekLog theme variations and more are on their way. We currently have them on our download section on our site http://www.mindfab.com/ filemgmt/index.php The screenshots for the themes are with the descriptions so you don't have to download the theme and run it to see if you like it.

There's more where that came from - no one has asked us for any of these, so we never published them until now.

We have several that we did custom mods to for clients, some for our own sites, and that's what these themes represent - mainly colorizations and some layout mods of existing themes you may recognize, some major HTML fixes to one theme.

Being able to colorize existing themes is a great savings of time and money for people who want a different look.

We'll publish more variations as we have time. check back. We'll also try to push some up to the other GeekLog theme repositories...again as time permits.

Hi,

using the Silver base, I created a XP theme (my first theme!). You can see it in action at http://www.systemexpert.com . Consider it as an alpha version but for now, the skin is working correctly!
You can download it from http://perso.wanadoo.fr/thierryfrache/geeklog/xp.rar

I hope you'll like it.

We plan to create a couple of GLs hat will have Catalan as primary language. We have seen very few GLs in this tongue out there and maybe it's time to create a Catalan language file. Has anyone worked on this? If not we'll start from scratch.

With a Catalan version Geeklog could be included in the very popular directory of SoftCatalĂ , which will help to spread this great piece of software in this side of the Mediterranean.

Received the July '03 issue of Macworld magazine and wanted to let folks know that it features a 5 page article (starting on page 77) comparing "the top 7 Weblog systems", which includes GeekLog. It doesn't look like they've posted the latest edition's reviews on the site, so you might want to sneak a peak at your local newsstand.

The article is pretty thorough and compares Blogger Pro, GeekLog 1.3.7, iBlog 1.2.5, LiveJournal, Movable Type 2.63, pMachine Pro 2.2.1, and Radio 8.0.

It highlights GeekLog's strengths and weaknesses compared to the other systems. GL makes it to the top 4 and is recommended for its power and collaborative features (although they note that it does require more technical skill to set up and operate). As a whole I thought it was fairly accurate and well-balanced. Kudos to the GL team!

I've just finished updating a guide: how to install Geeklog on Abyss Web Server for Windows... Its up at http://www.aprelium.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1073 and its short, simple and pretty straight-forward...

Abyss Web Server is a free tiny web server for both Windows and LINUX and is bundled with an amazing GUI. If you would like to run your own web server from your own machine and get up to speed on installing Geeklog to work with it then follow the link...

Theirs a few more guides there, including how to install MySQL and phpMyAdmin. MySQL is the database behind Geeklog and phpMyAdmin is a much need application in administrating MYSQL...

The Guide to MySQL: http://www.aprelium.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1070
The Guide to phpMyAdmin: http://www.aprelium.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1071

I hope the short guides help you get up to speed on quickly installing Geeklog on your own personal server. Good luck :)
