Is the forum plugin written by Blaine, free for modification and redistribution?

You do realize PHP cannot technically be anything but open source, do you...?
Perhaps you meant is it free or not, in which case yes, it is free. |

I don't think it's even allowed to make a non open source plugin for an open source (at least GPL) CMS. Even more so because like you say it's going against the wall.
The only question is whether such a plugin is free or not. But once you get it, it's open source. That's part of the GPL. Purchase comes with the source even if it's not a technical must) |

I know that Blaine's forum plugin has reached a maturity level that he is comfortable with, and probably won't be spending any more time on "features" (I know he's still actively addressing security bugs though). So if I start digging into the code and making modifications for my site, I might as well offer the code. We shall call this the GLForumX plugin. www.antisource.com |

Good luck renaming the endless calls for "_forum" functions into "_GLForumX". Likewise for many other static values.

Because otherwise it's like you're just renaming his plugin (even though you don't).

Anyway it would be nice to have a bug or feature request tracker. I`d fill it up 8) And I also think that others have good ideas for the forum.
