I am trying to upgrade my site from 1.3.11 to 1.4. After I backed up my db and files and uploaded the new files, I ran install.php. I selected upgrade databes in the first step and selected 1.3.11 in the second step. The next screen simply says:
1064: You have an error in your SQL syntax. Check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '( cid int(10) unsigned NOT NULL auto_increment, sid varcha and I am stuck. Anyone able to help? |

Make sure you've uploaded all the new files. Specifically, system/lib-database.php

Thanks, Dirk. That was apparently part of the problem. I reuploaded they system folder and it must not have all uploaded before. When I ran the install script again, after reinstalling the backup db, the database seems to update (a few new tables have been added), but I now get this message:
1060: Duplicate column name 'status' What do you think? |

'status' is a new field for the gl_users table. It shouldn't exist in your old database. Can you check that, please? Did you install any hacks/add-ons that may have introduced such a field?

It does seem that there is a status field in my original users table. I don't know what it is for, but the value for all the records is null. Should I delete it and try the install script again.
EDIT: I went ahead and deleted the field...and it works now. As always, thank you Dirk for your help! |
