Just so you don't think I'm sitting on my ass doing nothing instead of working on my upage plugin, I thought I'd pre-announce my upcoming business directory plugin.

Feel free to add stuff if you want - I'll delete anything I don't want there no problem.

I've got a bit more admin stuff to write before it gets relased, and I also want to integrate it into the GL links so that clicking a URL for a business will actually click you through a GL link and thus get counted. Also want to get comments going for the initial release, but that should be quick too.

Integration with the GL submission engine will be in a future release.

If all goes well and I get a bit of time at home I should have this out in about a week.

I had another think about the plugin. Theres a couple of things that came to my attention, they may have been thought of already, but here goes.

Security: I checked out the site and noticed only logged in users can add links. A good thing I believe. However, can the links be edited by the user at a later date? I think this would be handy as if the company changes their details the user can update the information. Doing it this way would save the email to the admin. Is there a way of having only the user and the admin being able to edit? This would stop others (maybe competition) in the group changing details.

Adding a link: Is there a way to stop users adding their own catagory, this would stop random un-related company's adding their details to the contacts list, I have this problem with my own geeklog site sometimes - not a big problem, but it would eliminate having to check through the sections as much.

Yes, I thought of both of those and have the stubs in place to easily add them. Unfortunately I haven't had a chance to work on this in the last week or so but I should have time again soon.

Maybe I'll just add the installation stuff now and release what I have as 0.5 so people can use it and give me some feedback.

I like the logos idea. Not sure if it will make it into 0.5 but maybe 1.0
