I want to remove the Whats Related Block from all my stories...how would I go about doing this? I'd like to keep the "Story Options" block.

Also, if I have a block on the right side(ie: user Information) on the main index, is it possible to have that show up in the stories at the right side too?

Have a look at CVS - I've recently implemented this (i.e. the separation of the What's Related and the Story Options blocks).

You could add your own block in pretty much the same way.

bye, Dirk

Am I missing something? Yes, I see these blocks are seperated, but no, I don\'t see a way to remove the blocks. I have looked in the web based configuration and the config.php file.

These blocks are present when someone views a story and I would like to remove them.

Forgot to mention, I am running GeekLog v1.3.7sr2, it looks like v1.3.8 might contain this feature as I am not running from CVS. Looks like a large amount of fixes, changes coming. thanks,
Scott

Remove them from the template file (article/article.thtml). In older versions of Geeklog, there was only one variable, \'whats_related_story_options\', available for use in the template. Now (and that includes 1.3.7) you can use any combination of \'whats_related\' and \'story_options\'.

This is an old thread, btw, and the original poster wanted to get rid of the What\'s Related block while keeping the Story Options - which was not possible then because there was only one variable available for both of them.

Thanks, Dirk; that helps, but I'd like to totally remove the what's related and story options (which I can do), but then I have no way of getting the printable story format and the email. I'd like these to remain where I put them in the storytext.thtml, but they are removed when viewing the story. Any way to leave them there? Thanks.

Why can't you leave in just the {story_options} variable, which seems to do what you want?

i removed the right blocks by editting article/article.thtml
but the story block won't stretch to fill the space. how do i get rid of the rightblocks "space" and make the story block stretch to the right edge? thanks.

you have to do just a bit more editing to that file. you are dealing with a table and table cells... if you have removed the two table cells that contain "what's related" and "story options" respectively, then the table containing your center content will fill the space. BUT you must rid the table of those two cells first.

Depends on the theme.

The right column is in rightblocks.thtml and the individual blocks are put together using blockheader.thtml and blockfooter.thtml, but themes can use different files for left and right blocks (or even for every individual block).

It is what I want, but it's not formatted the way I want it. I'm still trying to figure this out. I found the "story_options" part of the article.php, but I afraid to mess with it. Basically, I want the icons back. Anyone figure this out?

article.php calls COM_article (in lib-common.php) with an 'n' as the second parameter, indicating that the article is not going to be displayed on the site's index page. To COM_article, this also indicates not use the icons.

So you'll have to hack Geeklog here ...

bye, Dirk
