I've thrown together a rough-and-ready hierarchical links system for Geeklog. It uses the TreeMenu class, and you can create categories from a new admin page, and then drop links into them. It respects Geeklog security, but users can see empty categories even if they have no access to the links (this is fixable if someone wants to try).

Because of the way the TreeMenu class works (or at least as far as I understand it), it makes a mess of the templates - but I've put some in there for you.

This hack creates a new table for the categories, and just edits the contents of the category column in the links table - makes no changes to the database otherwise.

It takes a little work to put together - not much, but you need to be able to use PHPMyAdmin to set this up. Not for the beginner, and I haven't tested it well enough to use in a production site - should be OK, but I'm making no legally-binding promises. Use at your own risk.

Please email me if you want the files - I'm afraid that I'm on a Mac, which is lovely, but with OS9.2 I don't have a free packer and I'm stingy as hell...

Euan.
