The Mailing lists plugin has made it through alpha testing and is now ready for beta testers to have a go. Thanks to everyone who helped work out many of the bugs.

This release is still missing a Geeklog style language file and block lists, but should be fully functional otherwise. You can read the release notes
or just download the file: lists_0.2_1.3.7.tar.gz

Everything seemed to go OK.

When I click on New Mailing List
( http://geeklog.dbserve.net/submit.php?type=lists )
I end up re-directed to the story editer:
http://geeklog.dbserve.net/admin/story.php?mode=edit

I can't create a mailing list.

This is from submit.php.
It does not handle the case of type=lists
<code>
switch ($type) {
case 'link':
$retval .= submitlink();
break;
case 'event':
$retval .= submitevent($mode,$month,$day,$year,$hour);
break;
default:
if ((strlen($type) > 0) && ($type <> 'story')) {
$retval .= PLG_showSubmitForm($type);
break;
}
$retval .= submitstory();
break;
}
</code>

I got this working and it is very nice, thanks to the developers!

Is there a way to send a story to your mailing list?

I'd like to be able to use the "email article to a friend" feature to email an article to a personal mailing list.

I'd also like to offer users the ability of users to allow or deny other users the right to put their name on an email list.

I'm thinking of using this on a political issues site, and I want to allow a person to put other users on 'block lists' if they don't want to get email from the person.

Also, how about using the users geeklog name in addition to a real email address? This would enable people to send stuff to others, but allow the recipient to keep their own email private.

I might be able to help with coding on this.. Is there a dev site for this feature?

You already figured this out, but for others benefit. Version 1.3.7 of Geeklog fixed several bugs in the plugin moderation API that prevent the lists plugin from working correctly in the submission queue (among a few other problems).

The best solution is to upgrade to 1.3.7. If you need to stick to a previous version, contact me and I may be able to help you make the approriate code changes.

Is there a feature that allows an admin to email to a particular email address in order to post to the list, or must all posts be done on the site?
