Blaine and Matthew did an awesome job on integration and I really want to switch from Gallery but I just can't let my recent albums block go! I add them so often and it's important for the users to know what's new. Has anybody written this or want to take it on as a challenge? Personally, I can't code my way out of a wet paper bag, but I am very enthusiastic; I got that going for me at least (:

Actually I wasl ooking for a "Recent Albums" block. Sort of a reverse chron of the last 10 albums added to 4images. The random photo block post of yours is what re-sparked my interest.

Do you have an example of what you want? Just so I can see the layout of the block.

It's essentially just a list which shows any albums which have been added or updated. SquattyBlaine wrote one for Gallery, looks like an old screenshot can be found here, the newer version appears to be updated.
