My news feed isn't updating with the featured story. When I set the featured story to a normal story it does not update in the news feed.

So any story originating as a featured story never hits the news feed.
How can I change this?

Hmm, not sure I understand the problem.

A featured story is in the feed as long as it is among the first 10 (or whatever you set your feed to contain) stories, i.e. the 10 newest ones. There's no such thing as a featured story in the feed - it's treated like any other story.

So a featured story will drop out of the feed as soon as there are more newer stories than your feed should hold.

Would that explain what you're seeing?

I wrote a story yesterday and it is not in the news feed. You can look on my site and see the latest story, then click on the news feed or the live bookmark and see that its not in there.

I thought maybe that it being featured was keeping it from hitting the feed, so I switched the featured off but that didn't help.

Okay, that shouldn't happen.

Check that the feed file is still writable. Also, try to force-update the feed by saving its entry from Content Syndication again.

Ah. It was set to just be General News and this story was posted in a different category. Thanks for the help~
