why do you guys make the install instructions so freaking complicated.
upload to layout that's cool. the data part is the issue..whats up with numbers? why cant i just upload purepro to the data folder and that's it ..when you put the number 1, them theme doesn't load correctly like all the images are not showing up or anything else.

Archive numbers are just that. What you need to look for in the archive, is the name of the theme and then verify its sub-folders. See image at http://i46.tinypic.com/3gg8x.png to see how the theme directory structure and where it is placed.
