Question: The ID you chose for this story is already in use.

Answer: Starting with Geeklog 1.3.10, you can edit the IDs of your stories. Since story IDs are not guaranteed to be generic any longer, Geeklog will check that you don't use the same story ID for two different stories.

So when you edit a story and get "The ID you chose for this story is already in use.", you either

  • Have used that same story ID for some other story before.

  • Haven't updated your story editor template files, as described in the list of theme changes in the documentation.

Also keep in mind that Geeklog will only accept certain characters in a story ID (uppercase and lowercase letters, digits, the dot '.', the dash '-', and the underscore '_'). Any illegal characters are removed from the ID, which may also result in that new ID to collide with one that has been used in another story before.
