The rating plugin 2.0beta release is now available in the downloads section on this site.

This plugin allows you to add a rating, review and/or digg system to any item. You can add them with autotags, or with a slight modification to the core files. You now can display ratings a number of different ways either site wide or on an individual rating.

If you have any problems, post them in the forums or comment on this story.

The main reason for this release is for testing, feedback and suggestions. There are also several new requested features that people have been asking for.

Looking forward to some feedback...

Tom.
Euan.

Note: If you modified Geeklog core files for previous versions of this plugin, these modifications will need to be updated.

The mods to the geeklog core files will need to be done AFTER you install or upgrade the plugin.

Ouch, what's up with modding core files? I'd like to try this pluging but I'd never use something that mods core GL files. Too compilcated to upgrade, for one.

You do not need to modify the core files. Modifying of the core files is required if you want a rating after every story, or comment, etc automatically.

You can still add rating's in via autotags without modifications (you could do this after every story if you wanted).

Though I am still struggling with my GL installation through GoDaddy....

I have a question. I am attempting to get a site built that will among other things give the ability to site visitors to apply a rating to an EVENT in the calendar as my name would suggest a Horse Show... or a user object "Horse Show Judge". So not sure if this plugin will do what I want, and since I can not install this plugin into my GL installation which is about to be blown away again!... I was hoping that you could provide me a little insight.

Just saw your question. Currently the Calender does not parse for any type of autotags. You would have to modify core geeklog files to allow for this for I ither the title or description field. It would just be a couple lines of code.

I do have a new version of the rating plugin almost finish. I just have to finish the update script and squash a few more small bugs.

Is there some website that has used this plugin. Any one who has tried to include this as part of their forum - any comments on how difficult it is to put it together (I have moderate knowledge of php) and how does it compare.
Any thoughts are welcome.

Thanks
