Since we don't seem to have enough options for photo gallery plugins, I've packaged up a working version of the Geeklog-Gallery2 integration plugin.

It's a bit skimpy on features and documentation at the moment, but my testers seem happy with it up til now! [Thanks Ajay, Wayne, and John!] I'm releasing it because people have been waiting for a long time and I wanted to give them something useful to play with.

This version installs a random photo block by default and allows you the option of having the G2 control block as a geeklog block or left alone as part of the G2 page.

You can get it through my geeklog software page.

Great work.... The install was very easy... I have a question though, when i click on teh main gallery page , it too shows a random image block as well as GL, so it looks weird. I turned off the image block on G2 but thsi also disables the GL block too. Is there a way around this? I know its a basic beta version you did , and once again its great work.

Also is there a way to disable the left menu bar on G2, so as to just show the pics with no menu selections, or would this be un practicle?

Thanks dude and keep up the good work!

Rob..

"I have a question though, when i click on teh main gallery page , it too shows a random image block as well as GL, so it looks weird."

Keep the Image block enabled in G2, but in the G2 admin, Display->Themes->Matrix make sure that 'Image Block' is not selected for any of the settings. This worked for me...

"Also is there a way to disable the left menu bar on G2, so as to just show the pics with no menu selections"

This should be controlled by the setting on the GL_Gallery2 admin page "Put Gallery2 block in a geeklog block". Then you can disable it or make it only visible to the admin user if you like.

Hey Andy et All,

Thanks for the release!

Unfortunately, after coping all the files are rescribed here...
<geeklog>/plugins/GL_Gallery2/admin/readme.html

...the plugin is not showing up in my plugin list here...
<public_html>/admin//plugins.php

I compared the permission to my (working) chatterblock, and they are all the same and look right. So I tried running the install.php from here...
<public_html>/admin//plugins/GL_gallery2/install.php

... as they recommend in the chatterblock readme. There I get a normal geeklog screen with "Install GL_Gallery2" in the second coloum...

...where chatterblock will give me the " Install/Uninstall Plugin" page.
<public_html>/admin//plugins/chatterblock/install.php

Also, I'm not getting any useful info in the logs...
Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,
M@

"So I tried running the install.php from here..."

Note to others: Please don't do this. There's a mechanism in place for installing and removing plugins through the interface. Plugins should be using it.

Now, about your problem...

What version of GL are you using? If things are installed in the correct place, GL should pick up the new plugin to install.

Right, it should see the plugin an run the install...
but no luck.. so that's why I tried by hand...
no luck there either...

Looks like I'm still running 1.3.7sr1, ouch...
Should I be upgrading that first then?? : )

Thanks,

Hey M8, I am a noob and don't know much but in all fo your path descriptions there is an extra forward slash i

e: public_html>/admin//plugins.php

Should there be a "//" before "plugins.php" ?

Ok, I just did a fresh install of GL (1.3.11sr2) and Gallery2 (2.0.1) on a linuxbox and.... same...

Doesn't show up in the Plugins page after copying all the files?

Ok, I figured out what was wrong with that install... I had the public_html directory one up from the geeklog directory and (not inside the geekog dir)... and I guess the GL_Gallery2 didn't like that...

Ok, now I did another install where the public_html directory is inside the geeklog dir. So my dirs look like this...

/var/www/html/geeklog
/var/www/html/geeklog/public_html
/var/www/html/geeklog/public_html/gallery2

... and the Gallery2 (gallery-2.0.2-full.tar.gz) and Geeklog (either geeklog-1.3.11sr3.tar.gz or geeklog-1.4.0rc1.tar.gz) work great... But, when I try to install the GL_Gallery2 plugin from the "admin/plugins.php " page i get these erros in the "geeklog/logs/error.log"...

... so I dropped the https, and wen't back to http as a test... no change, just stopped the last error...

One good clue is that if I drop the geeklog Database and reload it from a backup... then I get my Geeklog back to normal... so the problem must exist in the Database changes...

Any ideas?

Ok,

Now I just removed all the users in the Gallery2, reloaded the Geeklog database from the backup... and tried the "admin/plugins.php" install again... but now I get this error in the GeekLog... and it doesn't cause the Geeklog to go blank and more...

"For some reason, installation failed. Please check your error logs."

... and the Geeklog error_log says this...

Hi Andy,

I would like to have your advice regarding the Geeklog error.log file I get when I select Install inside Geeklog GL_Gallery2 plugin administrator page after performing the steps you describe here. The error.log file is available at the bottom of this mail.

It is not clear for me how Geeklog users will be managed by Gallery in so far as accounts have been created separately for each system.

I thank you in advance for your help .

Fabien

For your information, I have the following system configuration:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Geeklog version = 1.4.0 Beta 1
GL_Gallery2 plugin version = 0.4.2

I'm starting to think that, even though my Gallery2 works fine, there is
something in the Database that is not compatible with this plugin??

I think I will try backing up my Current Gallery2 files and Database, and
try starting fresh on the Gallery2 and Geeklog install... just as an
experiment...

Seems to work just fine though even with the error.

Hi!

I have big problems to install the gallery2 plugin for geeklog version 0.4.2, i am using geeklog 1.4rc1 with PHP 4.2.2 and MySQL 3.23.52 at a linux server.

First of all, i have installed gallery2 here and my geeklog here, but there are seperated databases for each application.

Here is the error.log entry from geeklog, after that my geeklog DB is broken and i have to make a new geeklog DB from my backups:

The name of the gallery2 DB is serendipity, because i used an old Database with that name for the gallery2 installation.

That was my second try to install the gallery2 plugin at my website, can anybody help me please to figure that problem out?

Thank you very much in advance!

Hey All,

I'm trying to install again from scratch (after having the plugin and
embed working in the past). But now I'm getting this error...

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: iserror() in /var/www/html/
geeklog/plugins/GL_Gallery2/functions.inc on line 624

Anyone know why isError() would not be defined...

Thanks,
M@

... that's after the install fails and I'm trying to load the main page.
Pressing the "Install" link fails with this similar error...

Fatal error: Call to a member function on a non-object in /var/www/
html/geeklog/public_html/admin/plugins/GL_Gallery2/install.php on line

I just installed this plugin with the new Geeklog v1.4.0... and it seems to be working... so far...

Also, I should mention that I (accidentally) tried installing this with a new Gallery2.1 install... and that doesn't work.... For me, only Gallery2.0.2 has worked...

Thanks,
M@

Hey All,

Ok, so I have settled in with GL 1.4.0 and Gallery2.0.2
with this plugin. Every thing is working great! : )
Many Thanks to Andy for letting me finally upgrade
my site... : )

Seems like I still have two lingering issues...

1) Enbeded slideshows. Has anyone tried using the
SlideShow from within GL? It's not working for me...
not sure why yet... and...

2) Hidden Items. After many attempts I have not been
able to keep my hidden pictures hidden after importing
them from my Gallery1... Not a plugin issue, but just
thought I would toss that out there....

Thanks,
M@

Anyone tried an Embedded SlideShow?
Mine only shows the first picture...

Thanks,
