Blog This!

Introducing the blog plugin, an implementation of the Blogger API for Geeklog.

What does this mean? It means that you can now post stories on your Geeklog site through a Blogger client (an appplication that lets you compose your posts offline).

And it doesn't stop there: It lets you post Forum topics, Static Pages, Journal entries, and FAQ entries, too. All tied in to Geeklog's permission system, of course. You can also restrict usage to members of certain groups and allow posting to the forum but not stories, etc.

But (there just had to be a "but" ...) here's the catch: This plugin is not free software ...

This will probably upset a few people, but you will have to pay for this plugin. It's released as a shareware / donationware hybrid, i.e. you can download it for free and use it - without any restrictions - for a reasonable amount of time. If you find it useful and continue to use it, you are expected to pay whatever it seems worth to you (suggested are $5 for private and non-commercial use, $20 for commercial use).

The plugin is only available from http://geeklog.info/blog-plugin/. The documentation is available online there, as well as a support forum and a forum for your test posts (both forums require registration).

Dirk, not being familiar with these Blogger apps, could you list a few
of these desktop input tools? I'd like to test some of them out,
thanks!

The ones I've tested it with are listed in the documenation. On MacOS X, try Kung-Log.

Great option. I am just curious. This is coming from my inexperience with Geeklog.

How would you go about implementing MULTIPLE blogs by different users on an Geeklog instance?

Would you create sections for each user?

That depends on your definition of a blog ...

You could use the Journal plugin. That gives every user a place where s/he can post stuff - privatly or for the public.

This is probably closest to a "traditional" blog.

Version 1.0.1 of the blog plugin is now available. It now supports posting of stories separated into an intro and a body text and fixes name collisions in case the PHP XML-RPC module is installed on the webserver.

yes, i have read the documentation ... i know that i don´t need a Blogger.com account, Instead, I´ll have to configure my Blogger client to use the account of my own Geeklog site... so just let me go step by step :
1. I think that i have to choose one of that list of Blogger clients (those are: BlogApp, BlogWorks, Chronicle Lite , Frequency, Kung-Log, MozBlog, Radio Userland, PyBlogger, ThinBlog, w.bloggar or Weblog Poster ) and then make there a username , a password and a RPC-URL for my own geeklog site ... am I right?
2. with MozBlog: i have made a proyect on MozBlog ... but i dont see there any RPC-URL
3. with w.blogger: i have instaled the w.bloggar but i dont know what to put on the proxy server

it is so complicate? i know that i am a dumass... but i whant that Blogger on my geeklog site!
