Upgrading from RC2?

Were there any db changes since RC2?

Is the "changed-file" list a list of changed files from RC2 or
1.3.7sr2?

There were no database changes during the entire release candidate phase, i.e. rc1, rc2, and the final version all use the same database.

The changed-files lists the changes since 1.3.7sr2, since that was the last official release.

And before anyone asks - lib-common.php, admin/moderation.php, admin/poll.php, and system/classes/url.class.php where the important files that changed since 1.3.8rc2. Further changes were in the documentation, the language files, and lib-custom.php (which now includes sample code for the new custom registration API).

concerning the upgrade of the public_html-folder: so If i simply untar the new version over the old and correct the path in the lib-common, it should work? Or do I have to delete the old files first?

Well, that should work. However, if something goes wrong there (e.g. one of the existing files is write-protected) you'll end up with a mixture of old and new files ...

That's why the upgrade instructions recommend you remove the old files first.

Will I need to replace the config.php to go from 1.3.8rc2 to this?

No, but make sure you change the version number (near the end of config.php) to '1.3.8'.

Plugin compatibility?

It's great news to see 1.3.8 released! Great work Dirk and friends.

I was wondering what is the story with plugin compatibility?

I'm running the Gallery integration, VisitorStats, and File Management plugins in addition to the usual Static pages. I've made a few code hacks as well to better integrate these but I can redo these without too much hassle.

Obviously I'm keen to upgrade, but I don't want to find out half way through that I'll have to turn off a bunch of functions in my site while I await plugin updates.

You shouldn't have a problem with those plugins.

All the themes are broken because they are missing the new template files. Just read the instructions, and copy the missing or updated files from one of the themes in the tarball.

I've put together a theme file upgrade pack for all GL themes. Get it at http://www.ectropia.com/filemgmt/index.php.

That's why I suggested to delete your cookies ...

There were cookie changes in 1.3.8, so the old ones may interfere with the new ones. Delete all the cookies you have for the site that was running 1.3.7, then try to log in again.

I am having this problem too on one of my sites that I upgraded to 1.3.8 from 1.3.7sr1 (but patched with sr2 files). It still won't let me log out even after I deleted all my cookies. Weird...
