Whos Your GL Host ??

Geeklogfor geeklog.net - you should add a 'Section' for users to post info on their GL hosts to help us newbies out.

I'll start the section for you... I use Omnis (www.omnis.com) - under $85/yr for my plan of 50MB / 5GB transfer, Mysql db, php4, 10 emails, u/l aliases blah blah blah

although I got my GL site online and modified to my needs in under 30 minutes - I am unhappy for the simple fact that plug-ins are hard to get going. for example, the gallery plug in will NOT work until the host upgrades server(s)

Why not try a hosting company that already supports Geeklog & Gallery out-of-the box...for a much lower price I might add ;-)

Take a look a pSekHosting. Tell them squatty sent you!

I don't see gl listed on their hosting plans. What do you mean by out-of-the-box? I'm with a hosting company that isn't very good and I'd like to switch.

All I can say is that pSek Hosting has been great. Very responsive before AND after the sale. They had my GL up and running quickly after I signed up. It's been working great.

Thanks, Squatty, for the recommendation.

I was wondering if they also support the gallery integration?

Try eryxma.com. Lots of features for a cheap price. The cheapest plan is $30 a year which amounts to 2.50 a month. Plans go up from there depending on how many domains you want, how much space you need, and how much bandwith you need. All plans come with php and mysql as well as lots of other features.

I tried psekhosting as Squatty said and it rocks. Fast setp many scripts already installed, Cpanel make life easy and he's thinkg of adding ssh soon. With plans starting well under 10 bones a months I say give them a try too.

I have hosted with some of the largest host around by request of some of my corporate clients but they all suck. Cihost, Interland, Adgraphix and several others and even with millions of dollars to spend on tech they can't match the support and person to person you get from psek.

Sorry if i sound overly biased but it is all true.

I host mine at <a href="http://www.joyweaver.com/">www.joyweaver.com</a> because I need a lot of space for my pictures. They provide 600 mb for under $10 plus, 10% discount for annual subscription.

I use A href="http://www.affordablehost.com">AffordableHost. I have a web hosting account with 1GB of space for right around $225 a year.

They have other CPanel accounts, and Fantastico script installer which does support Geeklog. However, there is a flaw in the Fantastico-installed version of Geeklog but I understand it's in the process of being repaired. I've already alerted the folks at AffordableHost about this.
