Question for ISP Hosted GL Installations

GeeklogWe are currently working on an internationalization/localization requirements document for Geeklog 2. The debate is that we would like to use PHP support for gettext() as a standard but we aren't sure how many of you out there (even you english-only folks) this will effect. How do you find out? Create a simple PHP page with
<?php phpinfo(); ?>
in it and view it. Then do a search for gettext and see if you have it enabled. We'd prefer to use gettext() but if there are enough of you who's ISP doesn't support it we could build in support for the current translation method (with minor improvements).

'gettext' as a string does not appear anywhere on my phpinfo() page. Thank you for thinking of this.

XrackHosting (http://www.xrackhosting.com) does not have gettext
enabled. I'll fire off an inquiry and see what it would take to get them to
turn it on...

Balita is currently running 5 installations of GL on our server Apache 2 and PHP 4.2.2 - PHP INI is showing '--with-gettext' is that what you are looking for - so it's running on ours.

Bluegenisis.com and Hostopia both do not support gettext(). Please don't make this a mandatory thing in order to use GL. If you are going to use gettext(), at least have a simple workaround for those of us that do not have access to it.
