Geeklog Plugins Project?

GeeklogI've just spent 45 minutes bouncing between geeksta.com, squatty.com, and GxBlock.com looking for the Chatterbox plugin.

The disappearance of Squatty's download area begs the question: Why isn't the Geeklog Plugins Project being promoted more actively? There isn't even an obvious link from the Geeklog site to the Plugins Project page. (http://sourceforge.net/projects/geeklogplugins/)

The problem is one of organisation. To take part in the plugin project, a developer would need CVS access, so he has to be added to the project. But then he could also edit the plugins submitted by other people.

We have discussed this briefly before, but couldn\'t find a practicable solution - at least not while the project is hosted with Sourceforge. Tony is in the process of setting up a server dedicated to Geeklog, maybe we can find a solution there, where we have more control over the setup.

Until then, the plugin project is pretty much dead. I only use it for my plugins since when it comes to backups I\'m about as lazy as Squatty ;-)

Why not solicit for volunteers and get this thing off the ground? I'd volunteer - I see this as a the logical avenue for distributing the GL documentation that I've been talking about and as a great inroad to advancing my PHP/MySQL/GL skills!

What are you volunteering for?

I was using the word \"organisation\" in a technical sense - we need to set up a infrastructure so that people can upload their plugins without interfering with other people\'s stuff.

Actually, I think the three download plugins which are currently under development will already solve most of our problems here. They all have the ability to upload your works to other websites - which would give you an external backup.

The quick answer is yes, the new server will allow for each plugin to be it\'s own project with it\'s own CVS repository. However I\'m still chasing down an affordable PCI RAID controller to hook my 4x18.4GB drives too. Then it is just a matter or organization and configuration.
