Getting the Latest Build

GeeklogFirst of all, thanks to all who have worked on GL! I have been following it since v.1.1 and am impressed by the dedication, commitment and creativity I've seen here, in the mailing list and the code itself.

I am planning to do a fresh install of GL and noticed that the 1.3.5 file at sf.net dates from April. There have been many fixes/improvements since the day of release.

What is the best way to get the latest, updated version? I am sure everyone who plans to install GL from scratch is asking the same question.

Again, thank you for your dedication and hard work. Most of my PHP I've learned by trying to comprehend the GL source :)

The best way ...

Well, the best way is usually to wait until a new version is officially released :-)

If you're really desperate, you can alway get the latest version from CVS, but I would not, repeat not, recommend that for a "production" site, i.e. for one that contains data of any importance.

Also, if you plan on using versions from CVS, you should know what you're doing and you should join the geeklog-devel mailing list.

For example, we just had a two week period during which the CVS version was just plain broken and unusable. While this is certainly not normal, you should be prepared that some things don't work properly when getting a version from CVS.

bye, Dirk
