Problem with browsing geeklog

I recently posted an article about not being able to properly view my site from inside my firewall.

I believe the problem to be that I can not reach the actual dns name from inside the firewall. So I have to use the IP for the machine, this causes the web page to not bring up any of the graphics.

I guess I need to know if anyone else is running geeklog behind a firewall, if so how are you administering the box from inside the firewall.

Thanks,

Hard to say from your description, but I have a similar problem using GL as an intranet site because our network automatically caches pages to minimize bandwidth (yes, even internally...).

So, the deal is, when you log in as Admin (or whomever), GL registers the log in but your page does not refresh accordingly.

  1. To solve this problem: ask your network admin to disable caching of internal pages.
  2. To work around this problem: after you log in, click your log in name in the Currently Logged In block or click the Home link in the Sections block.

Not too sure why, but this seems to call up GL pages withlogin info.

Hope this helps...

Yes, I understood your problem from the beginning. If you route all requests for that IP through your firewall first, you will be able to view that just fine. It\'s a networking issue you need to take up with your sys admin.
