phpBB module ready for action!

AnnouncementsI've just put, what I think, are the finishing touches to the phpBB module for Geeklog. Head over to our Plug-ins page to get it. Please note that this is not a full-fledge plugin yet but the directions should be sufficient for you to use it on a production site now.

Changes:

  • Correctly reports total number of users
  • links to Geeklogs user profile where necessary
  • Login/logout links point to Geeklog's
  • Fixed bug that would allow phpBB session to expire when still logged in from Geeklog
  • Added phpBB credit to bottom
  • Story Options

    Geeklog Plugins Pages

I was wondering if these two pages are going to be updated to reflect working plugins?
Isn't the staticpages plugin working? If so, it should be on one or both of the below pages along with phpBB and others that may be working, Gallery?

    phpBB database

So I previously installed a version of the phpBB
    (gl1.3.1_phpBB1.4.4.tar.gz) plugin
for Geeklog. Have the tables changed in the final
version or can I keep my previous phpBB
    database/tables? I assume they haven\'t changed, if
    that is the
case, where do I configure phpBB\'s access to the
mysql database? In Geeklog you set the database
name, user and password in lib-database.php, where
do you do this in phpBB? It is not in config.php.

No, I haven\'t changed the phpBB database nor will I ever as it will make upgrading to future versions of phpBB nearly impossible.

DB settings for phpBB are in config.php at the bottom of the file. In a fresh install where you haven\'t ran their installer, they may not be there yet.

If you want to run the installer again, just point it at a temporary database to get the files set up and then switch it back after you finish the install.

if you\'re not logged in, and you click on a forum post on the index page, you get a session error.

this goes away when you log in.

maybe you want to hide the forums for anon users ?

Nah, that\'s a bug that should be fixed. It should be inserting sessions for anonymous users

    phpBB directory issue
Authored by: Anonymous on Thursday, February 14 2002 @ 01:18 AM EST
This may seem like a stupid question, but I didn\'t see it explained in the Install document. You seem to say to install phpBB normally which would place it in a www.mysite.com/phpBBB directory path, set I\'m getting errors, and in looking at gl_functions.php, that seem to indicate that the directory path is more like www.mysite/geeklog/public_html/phpBB. Any way, that\'s the error I seem to be getting, as these snippets show
    /geeklog/public_html/phpBB/extention.inc\'
    /gl_functions.php on line 28

    www/geeklog/public_html/phpBB/functions.\'
    /system/gl_functions.php on line 29

    www/geeklog/public_html/phpBB/config.\' geeklog/system/gl_functions.php on line 30

any ideas on what I\'ve borked?
Does this have the same hole as phpbb 1.4.4?
Authored by: Anonymous on Friday, February 15 2002 @ 10:42 AM EST
Not trying to be a wet blanket, but I had the full version of phpbb 1.4.4 hacked roughly 2 weeks ago. Someone was able to gain admin access and put a bunch of crap in the header-meta-footer area.

According to the phpbb support forums this was supposed to be fixed in 1.4.4... but you can find several examples of people getting hacked.

Just wanted to save people the trouble of spending alot of their time and effort on a layout, only to have someone trash it in a few minutes.
