I'm just tinkering with the GL look and feel at the moment, but in the next few days, I'm going to dedicate myself to building a better interface. So far, I'm going with the 'blue' look, and am going to incorporate Mozilla's Modern tint of cyans and blues, plus use the HE gun metal colourings also. Feedback Please! I want all your feedback to help build an interface we can all be happy with. There are a number of issues I'm going to be taking into consideration, including:
  • HTML4 and CCS1 compliance
  • Lowend Browsers (NS4.5, etc)
  • Cross Platform Viewing
This means I want all you Machintosh people to get back to me on this one, as I'm going to be trying to fix the font problems you were all having.

Mark, the site is looking VERY good. Better than what we had on gl.org.

Only problem is using PNG\'s. Now, I am all for getting rid of gif\'s for PNG, but Internet Explorer just doesn\'t support them properly. The site looks good in Mozilla, but in IE, the transparency on the PNG\'s just don\'t work.

It would be all well and good to just say \"ahh, lets just put them in anyway, Microsoft will fix the support\", but the question is then \"When will they do it?\" And IE is still the most popular browser out there!

Just my 0.02p anyway.

My thoughts exactly. Indeed, the only reason they are PNGs is, that\'s the format they were on the web when I used WGET to nab them :)

I\'m going to grab them all again to my machine, doctor them to suit the site, and upload them (with a more complete geeklog interface) so everything is nice and pretty.
  • Fonts in Netscape

I\'m on RH 7.1 using Netscape and the authored by stuff in gray for each article renders pretty bad...almost unreadable. Any chance of trying to fix that?

Same is true for fonts used in blockheader.

The new stylesheet uses NO php logic; rather it uses pixel sized fonts. Currently, I'm using 12, 11 and 10 px as the basis of these fonts.

In opera 5.12 there is some space between the images in the blocks.

Good work!
